. asked: I submitted a claim on damages to my car a policy holder of USAA caused. It has been over two weeks and I still don’t have the check or answers if they are going to pay for my car. I called a little while ago and they said the adjuster was going to take a look at the photo I sent in along with the estimate I provided (I had all this because I was at first trying to go out of pocket with the people). They said he would get back to me and he or USSA have not.
Is it strange for the insurance company to take so long? Before I’ve submitted claims to other companies and it’s always been a very speedy process.
I have a busted headlight and cannot afford to pay for it to be fixed so I am really waiting on this claim.
Is this a long time to wait? What could be the reason?
Thanks.
Yes Crissa! That is why I am not going through my company. The damage is $416 and my deductible is $500. That makes no sense for me.

M asked: I was recently involved in a car accident in a parking lot. A man backed out of his parking space, into the passenger side of my car as I was driving by. He verbally admitted fault and we exchanged insurance information. I gave my statement to his insurance company and they indicated this would be a quick claim. A day later he is recanting and saying that I hit him with the front of my car, and that the accident is my fault. His insurance inspected my car and I noticed they have given me a copy of the damage estimate. In the estimate, they have estimated for front bumper, headlight, and front fender repair. I have looked carefully, and there is no damage in these areas. The damage starts on the passenger side front door (point of impact), and extends across the passenger side rear door and rear fender.
I found out later that he is an insurance broker, and his brother is his insurance agent. I sense shenanigans. Is it possible that they are trying to build false documentation to make this look like my fault? If so, what can I do to protect myself? I have taken my own photos and I will be calling my insurance agent again to insist that they perform their own documentation on the damage.

Gutt_throats asked:
If a car was in a previous accident where damage occurred, and no photos were taken before this present damage. How can it be proven that the current damage is from this accident?
The insurance company has to investigate the damage. What can be done? Any answers or advice.

Dan asked: I need to buy a cell and I’ll probably need a photo ID. Problem is, I don’t have one…
I don’t have a drivers license or anything.
All I have is my social insurance number, citizenship card.
However, will my Highschool ID work? All it has on it is my Name and a picture of me. Will my name be enough proof since it matches the one on my SIN and citizen ship card.

. asked: Forgive me if I’m a bit worked up but this insurance company USAA has been making this claim difficult for me.
I faxed in info on the 5th of September regarding a policy holder that hit my car – it was a
1. a cover letter which contained my number, the police officer that took the investigation report, his number and badge number.
2. an estimate for the damage
3. a photo of the damage
They’ve never once called me back so I’ve always been calling them. The phone call I made last Tuesday they told me they were trying to get a hold of the officer and they’d call me in 2 days. They never did – what a surprise. So I finally called them today. TODAY they said that they cannot talk to the officer without the actual investigation report. But they’ve failed to inform me of that for about 1 week.
Is this true? I’m very skeptical of them because they always tell me something but they never actually do it.
What is on the investigation report is their policy holder’s info and my insurance info as well as the police officer’s name and badge number. There are no facts on it as the police were not there at the accident.
The amount of money for this claim is not WORTH a lawyer. It would cost me more to pay legal fees than fix the car on my own.
Shut up Poppy’s husband! lol.
Hun, I understand what she *says* – just wondering if that is actually the case!
