TALK ABOUT SHYT FOR LUCK!!!! My bf owns his house… And it is a, um, FIXER-UPPER. The roof was over 10 years old…. He has had it for a few years now, and couldn’t afford to put a new roof on until just recently….

WELLLLLL…. OFCOURSE, knowing our luck, right as soon as he hires a roofer and scheduales a date for a new roof (which is supposed to be next weekend)..
IT STARTS RAINING, and raining and raining and IT WON’T STOP RAINING BECAUSE OF THE DAMN HURRICANE!!!!

Look at the damage:

Tell me what you think. I mean, yeah, I knew that eventually the tiles were getting a little hideous (kinda like this pic)…:

or here as well…

But the tiles never started coming down until this last week… And it’s not like we could make the roofer hurry up and get his **** over here and redo it all in the rain, y’know???

Also wondering if insurance would cover any type of weather proofing for the basement… See here:

and…

Hey, I had JUST purchased that 20-some dollar box of Tide detergent… and it is now prolly only half useable… Don’t know for sure, don’t wanna go down there to look and end up getting fried to death (Yeah, I know somebody who DID take a chance walking around in their flooded basement)..

Oh, and while we are on the subject of rain destruction, what do you think about the driveway??? Check this out… It’s a moat.. LOL…

What is that instrument called? Its handle when turned moves a reel of pictures inside a box?

One had to peek through a lens like hole, one at a time. It was very popular among children in villages and towns. It was called Bioscope in local lingo. Where can I get a photo/ picture/ illustration of that? Where do I learn more about it? The instrument is seen in Madhya Pradesh Tourism ad, and a recent insurance tv commercial.

Is is it odd the insurance company is taking so long?

I submitted a claim on damages to my car a policy holder of USAA caused. It has been over two weeks and I still don’t have the check or answers if they are going to pay for my car. I called a little while ago and they said the adjuster was going to take a look at the photo I sent in along with the estimate I provided (I had all this because I was at first trying to go out of pocket with the people). They said he would get back to me and he or USSA have not.

Is it strange for the insurance company to take so long? Before I’ve submitted claims to other companies and it’s always been a very speedy process.

I have a busted headlight and cannot afford to pay for it to be fixed so I am really waiting on this claim.

Is this a long time to wait? What could be the reason?

Thanks.
Yes Crissa! That is why I am not going through my company. The damage is $416 and my deductible is $500. That makes no sense for me.

Does anone know of a good restorative dentist in Cincy who barters or would like to use me in ads?

My teeth are a mess! Due to previous injury (car wreck in 1988), my teeth have gone steadily downhill since. I’ve had numerous surgeries and veneers and, most recently, an implant in front. I used to be very proud of my teeth and now suffer from really low self-esteem because of the situation my mouth has become. I’m missing some teeth in the front and this is really affecting my ability to find work, interact with others and overall feel very good about myself. Since I don’t have insurance and even indigent programs in local hospitals don’t cover restorative procedures (implants, veneers), I’m hoping to find a local dentist or company that would be willing to barter for these type of services. I work as a local writer/editor/graphic artist, so maybe I culd provide these services in return. I’d be more than willing to appear in before-and-after photos in ads to promote the person(s) who could do this for me. I’m at the end of my rope and thought I would try this…PLEASE HELP!

Can I file an insurance claim?

I had a new patio cover installed on my screen room. It has leaked four times already (with every rain). The company has been out three times already to attempt to repair it with no avail. It is leaking bad. It floods the floor of my room and I have lost some stuff that I had to throw out from getting wet. Also, the compnay split my fascia upon installing and put caulking all over my brand new roof. Since, they can’t fix it, I did not know if I should call my insurance company to file a claim because I obviously need a new cover. I just paid $4800 for this one a little under three months ago. I have photos and was planning on sending a certified letter to the company demanding they fix it this time or I will contact the BBB and take legal action. I am just worried that this will make them mad and they won’t come out to fix it.

Target of sleazy insurance agent? How do I protect myself?

November 18th, 2009
M asked:

I was recently involved in a car accident in a parking lot. A man backed out of his parking space, into the passenger side of my car as I was driving by. He verbally admitted fault and we exchanged insurance information. I gave my statement to his insurance company and they indicated this would be a quick claim. A day later he is recanting and saying that I hit him with the front of my car, and that the accident is my fault. His insurance inspected my car and I noticed they have given me a copy of the damage estimate. In the estimate, they have estimated for front bumper, headlight, and front fender repair. I have looked carefully, and there is no damage in these areas. The damage starts on the passenger side front door (point of impact), and extends across the passenger side rear door and rear fender.

I found out later that he is an insurance broker, and his brother is his insurance agent. I sense shenanigans. Is it possible that they are trying to build false documentation to make this look like my fault? If so, what can I do to protect myself? I have taken my own photos and I will be calling my insurance agent again to insist that they perform their own documentation on the damage.
